ADULT DAY CARE

The Sisters and staff of the Adult Day Care work together to provide the care that many of our elderly and their families need. Clients enjoy nutritious, home-cooked meals; they engage in conversation and social interaction, receive intellectual stimulation through games and music, and participate in physical activities, such as, handicrafts and light exercises.

Licensed nursing care is also provided, including an initial assessment on admission and monitoring of vital signs. For those requiring more comprehensive care, administering of medications, dressing changes, blood sugar testing, and catheter care.

The Antonine Sisters Adult Day Care is a training site for students from various regional universities.

We are a training site for student nurses from Youngstown State University, Kent State University Trumbull campus, and medical students from NEOMED (Northeast Ohio Medical University) and Dr. Charles Wilkins’ Clinic.

Students take vital signs and conduct mini mental-state exams. One student summarized the experience by stating, “My experience at the Antonine Sisters Day Care was an excellent one. I learned a lot about the psychological state of the elderly and learned about the resources that are needed for appropriate care of the elderly.”

Our Day Care staff members also provide training sessions.
